It is already two weeks ago that Dini, André, Steef and myself went to Boomi World Londen. After arrival and having a good night’s sleep in the hotel we were all excited to see what Boomi was going to show us. The event consisted out of two days, day one would be the partner day, and day two would be customer day where we would man a stand to talk with everyone willing to talk to us and see what interesting it could bring us.
Not really surprisingly the event was centered around AI. The overarching story that Boomi shared with us was based on two recently published articles. One recent MIT article revealed that 95% of businesses implementing AI are not seeing results in revenue or growth. It showed that this was mainly due to ‘flawed enterprise integration’. The second article by McKinsey showed that 90% of AI initiatives never got out of pilot mode because of ‘lack of enterprise readiness’. Based on these studies you can see that Boomi is in a perfect position here. What they have been doing for years is to make your enterprise ready by integrating your applications and data and this is for sure not flawed! (According to Boomi of course)
With the Boomi Integration module, customers are already integrating all of their data and applications. With Boomi DataHub, Boomi already has a good solution of making sure that your data is of good quality. Combine this with Boomi’s API management which has been lacking for a while, but the recent acquisition of APIIDA and Mashery they are now delivering a top notch API Management solution as well. This is backed by the latest Gartner report which got released slightly after Boomi World Londen but from which it was clear that the Boomi personnel was very excited about what we did not know (and they weren’t allowed to tell us) yet.
This means that adding an AI module of top of the already existing functionality which is already in place for all customers makes perfect sense and is only a small step compared to other software vendors who are starting to look at AI and still need to put in the work on how to integrate with other applications. This brings Boomi in a great spot!
On the first day of the event we were able to choose between a technical or commercial track. I of course dove into the technical track and was told about everything Boomi is doing with AI. It is not just possible to design and build AI agents, there’s also an ‘agent garden’ (orchestration), a ‘control tower’ (governance) and an agent marketplace to share your agents on. All of this is available within the Boomi Agentstudio and during the morning session we were able to build our own AI agent and deploy it within an existing integration and see what this did. Very interesting and impressive to see that Boomi has all of this up and running already. In the afternoon we were given different presentations from different managers and Boomi partners telling the course Boomi is going to follow in the near future.
On the customer day, a lot more visitors were present and the day started with a keynote of the Boomi CEO Steve Lucas, followed by multiple different partners and managers again and an interesting talk from Professor Brian Cox who tried his best to educate us about the universe. During the extended lunch time we were present on the floor with a booth in which we tried to find out how AI ready the event’s visitors were. A questionnaire was built in Boomi Flow which asked the visitors questions and concluded in a result of how AI ready the questionee’s organization was. We could then then start the conversation based on the results and as a reward for filling the questionnaire they would get some traditional Dutch Stroopwafels in return. Who wouldn’t want to have that? We got a lot of different people to chat with us and some interesting conversations came out of this which will hopefully result into some new and interesting business!
To summarize the event, we got technical input, we spoke to a lot of potential customers, we spoke to other partners and Boomi managers and gained some insight into which direction Boomi is going to. Now that we are back home I’m going to dive into the Boomi AI Agentstudio to find out what Boomi AI can bring us! Boomi London was definitely a success for us!
Kind regards,
